Daniel Dardani, CLP

Daniel Dardani, CLP, is the Director of Physical Sciences and Digital Innovations Licensing and Corporate Alliances in both the Office for Translation & Commercialization (OTC) and the Office for External Partnerships (OEP). Daniel is responsible for outreach, marketing, and licensing for physical sciences and digital innovations in Pratt, Trinity, Duke Health, and other Duke schools with his OTC hat on. When wearing his OEP hat, Daniel provides strategic support to the faculty for the development of multi-year corporate alliances, business development partners, and negotiation of IP terms for significant corporate sponsored research agreements. Daniel is an expert at counseling faculty and graduate student inventors and budding entrepreneurs on how to protect and leverage university-born innovations into commercialization opportunities and growing corporate engagements in the software and digital technology domains.

Before Duke, Daniel spent nearly twenty years at the MIT Technology Licensing Office, as a technology licensing officer, managing many technology transfer tasks in addition to handling a large and sophisticated portfolio of technologies including: computer and information technology, patented algorithms, copyrighted software, digital imaging, video games, machine learning/AI, data, and cyber security technologies. Dan is a Certified Licensing Professional™. He co-teaches an introductory course on intellectual property at Harvard University’s Summer School. He is frequently sought after to speak at professional conferences and industry symposia on the topic of technology transfer. He has degrees in physics and political science from the University of Rochester.
