Duke Office for External Partnerships and Research Triangle Park welcomed the Duke-Kunshan University’s Board of Directors
Durham, NC – A delegation from Kunshan, China, visited Duke University along with members of the Duke-Kunshan University’s Board of Directors on Nov 1, 2024. The group, made up of government officials, was welcomed by Dr. Ed Pagani, Assistant Vice President for Duke’s Office for External Partnerships.
After a brief introduction to Duke’s global research partnerships the government delegates traveled to Research Triangle Park (RTP) in nearby Durham.
Scott Levitan, CEO and President of the Research Triangle Foundation, was ready to give them a tour and share the story of RTP’s success as a hub for innovation. Scott’s presentation highlighted RTP’s unique ecosystem, where universities, businesses, and government organizations collaborate to drive advancements in technology and research. He spoke about the park’s growth over the years and its role in supporting industries like biotechnology, life sciences, and information technology, and plans for future expansion.
The Kunshan delegation, which had similar ambitions for their own city, was particularly interested in how RTP fosters partnerships between academia and the private sector. The delegates were impressed by the cutting-edge research and the overall collaborative atmosphere in RTP.
